#64. Surprise Ice Level

all they could hope for!"
I think e'rything's gonna turn out juuust right for them!

- - -

Haha, guess what I'm still not buyin'

Ah?

I . . . dunno. . .

played with Abra around here."
What's an abra?

. . .
Choro Notes: Occasionally, you can encounter that ghost. Spooky scary.

Music: Lacunosa Town

We cleared this out but never explored it. We should rectify that!

Choro Notes: Giant Chasm is the sorta Cerulean Cave of the game. It's an endgame dungeon full of powerful monsters.

It's like a big crater!

Alright, time to explore.

DWARF.

Jynx

Jynx walks rhythmically, swaying and shaking its hips as if it were dancing. It appears to alter the rhythm depending on how it is feeling. Its motions are so bouncingly alluring, people seeing it are compelled to shake their hips without giving any thought to what they are doing. Its cries sound like human speech. However, it is impossible to tell what it is trying to say. Either way, it seems to prefer using dance to communicate.
Choro Notes: Oh good another Jynx. Not like that freak one. Helluva a cry.
Zorak Notes: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHAT IT IS TRYING TO SAY. IMPOSSIBLE.
HulkaMatt Notes: Fun fact: When Independent Professional Wrestler Colt Cabana was asked what Pokémon he would be-he responded Jynx. Blackface Jynx, but still Jynx!!! Jynx: closet pro wrestler?

Choro Notes: The Comet Shard exists only to be sold to the Ore Maniac for 60000 big ones. Aside from this one here, wild Lunatone, Solrock and Clefable's family have a 1% chance of carrying them.

Choro Notes: It's a very boring cave. Full of Golbats, yes.

Crater woods!

Oh, well. Of course you'd be in here.

And y- oh! You brought a lil' buddy!

Clefairy

On every night of a full moon, groups of this Pokémon come out to play. When dawn arrives, the tired Clefairy return to their quiet mountain retreats and go to sleep nestled up against each other. It is said that happiness will come to those who see a gathering of Clefairy dancing under a full moon. The moonlight that it stores in the wings on its back apparently gives it the ability to float in midair. Its adorable behavior and cry make them highly popular as pets. However, this cute Pokémon is rarely found.
Choro Notes: Pink.
Zorak Notes: FUN FACT: in the anime, they were originally going to have Clefairy be Ash's starting Pokemon, not Pikachu. It was changed relatively late in development.
HulkaMatt Notes: How fitting it is that you caught a wizard. Clefairy is a wizard. A MAGICAL WIZARD. Clefairy is a MAGICAL WIZARD who casts magical spells and also is a fairy . . . a fairy wizard. That makes it the ULTIMATE WIZARD . . . right? Like what do you get when you cross a wizard and a fairy. Clefairy. Fuck. Can you imagine if this thing had a magic wand? Holy shit.

Choro Notes: Psyshock is a neat psychic-type move. It's special but . . . it targets the opponent's defensive stat. It's pretty neat!

ROBOT.

Choro Notes: Metang are a complete pain in the ass to capture, aside from being tough opponents, they have a capture rate of 3. The same as most legendaries. You can also encounter wild Metagross here in the shaking grass very rarely.

Oh . . . jeez. Sorry to interrupt. We'll let you two be alone.

Choro Notes: Of course they put one of the best moves in the game here.

That's not good.

Choro Notes: Getting through the forest maze to the pond in the center causes this to happen!

Oh, I can get up through here now.

. . . oh hell.

Music: Battle! Kyurem
Choro Notes: Kyurem, Reshiram and Zekrom's battle themes are identical except for an interstitial sound effect you'll hear periodically. Reshiram has a fire's roar, Zekrom has crackling electricity and Zekrom has a sort of blowing wind.

Choro Notes: Kyurem is an Ice/Dragon-type legendary monster. He's just kind of here.

Well, I don't see what . . .

Ah . . .

Well, it's a long shot. But it's worked every other time . . .

Choro Notes: Glaciate is Kyurem's signature move. It's a 65 power special Ice-type move that always lowers the opposing monsters' speed stat.

Y-yeah. That's effective.

That's for my cactus, jerk.

The hell was that thing?

Maybe we'll see that again some day?
