Big ups to GomenRider for their hard work! Way to go “nii-sans”!

Obviously, the whole bluray scheme has kind of fallen apart. Our old translator (who had also wanted to encode the videos) basically has gone through what our bros/femalebros at GG have called “an immense parade of hilarious drama and creepiness”, which is something coming from them. I will spare you the delicious details, but please take pleasure in the notion that they ARE quite, quite delicious.

Long story short though, he’s not working on Mazinger… ever? Yes, probably not ever. And while we could conceivably convince our series encoder to encode Mazinger and then we could try to find a translator who would be willing to do all this shit, I really can’t see it happening. Of course, if people want to rip our subs and do it themselves they are certainly free too. You can find the blurays on the usual Japanese FTPs at this point. They’re an upscale so you’ll probably want to scale it down.

Anyway, seeing as how that was our one translator who was willing to put up with my anime demands, I don’t see Gattai releasing any other stuff any time soon. Besides, there isn’t much we really WANT to translate that nobody else is.  So… yeah. Later kids! We’ve started getting a bunch of them encoded, and are retiming, identifying missing bits (even on the BC-containing episodes, there is missing stuff; that’s right, the blu-rays have even MORE content than the Bandai Channel versions)

After spending a long time looking through the episodes trying to find a reason to justify a larger resolution, we have for now ended up with our encode being, once again, 848 x 480. However, do not fret, because this is one GOOD looking video even so, and you will find we are completely right at this scale; if you double it, it looks the same quality wise as you would have gotten if we had released it as “HD”. It actually looks quite nice in 2x resolution mode in MPC, as you’ll find out. It’s technically HD, but it is indistinguishable from 2x SD so… yeah. Watch at 2x resolution, get the exact same quality for the a smaller file size. Perfect.

Episode 1 is in particular turning out to be a bitch since I have to go through every episode BUT episode 1, since our TL turned out lol, thanks to Japanese being lol. Trying to translate a context based language in an episode with a ton of shit without context??? It didn’t end well. Plus there are at least 40 or 50 new lines of dialogue compared to the TV version, so…

Welp. Shin Mazinger vs the Great General of Darkness confirmed, looks like this isn’t the last week for us at all.

• Ok by confirmed I mean “it’s really obvious and this show did well enough that it’s justified and the mechanical designers vague hints seem hopeful.
• Mandoric was hella sick this week, that’s why our TL has been delayed. DEAL WITH IT.
• The good news is the TL is done, and I’m working on it, but it’s going to take probably tonight to do it since there’s some stuff with rather finnicky dialogue and we need to iron out what’s meant to get y’all the best TL.
• ~ keep an eye out for future side projects to astound and amaze ~

• In all honesty I don’t know our TL status. Our TLer sort of has stopped keeping me updated about the status and really isn’t responding to me much!
• The first BD set is online finally, but we need our TLer to translate the stuff we missed in episode one + two before we can do it.

pretty much proof SA rules, what since SA forum moderator / my internet posting bro “slowbeef” was the one who saved the project from the brink and brought it to completion.
