#52. Let's Wrap Up some Plot Points you Forgot About
Welp, map says only one place I haven't been so let's go there!
-Today's Swarm!-
I do love crab~
Krabby
Krabby live on beaches, burrowed inside holes dug into the sand. On sandy beaches with little in the way of food, these Pokémon can be seen squabbling with each other over territory. If it is unable to find food, Krabby will absorb nutrients by swallowing a mouthful of sand. If it senses danger approaching, it cloaks itself with bubbles from its mouth so it will look bigger. Krabby's pincers break off easily. If it loses a pincer, it fully grows back quickly, but it somehow becomes incapable of walking sideways.
Choro Notes: Krabby became pretty good in gen4, since their Crabhammer now works off their large attack stat. Probably no water-type I'd rather have than Krabby/Kingler.
Zorak Notes: Someday Krabby you're gonna be a fucking awesome Monster Crab, I just know it.
HulkaMatt Notes: Utterly fantastic. They love cookies. I LOVE COOKIES!!! The kind of Pokemon I get along real well with.
What a weird place to find a Krabby.
Wonder how I missed this?
Volcanic ash. Wonderful.
Hey guys, see that totally "wicked" jump I did?
It has! About since you disarmed that bomb with those suplexes in the swamp!
Really I shouldn't be because I expect there to be a ton of fire-types here!
Jorge, cut it out.
Yeah, Jorge. Why you gotta be so dumb? Crasher Wake, you're so awesome.
. . . I- I might be interested in that, I'm not gonna lie.
Jorge, you don't even know what's in that thing.
You touched him, sir. Now the mother won't take him back.
I guess. Haven't been.
Really, I thought Nevica would LOVE a volcano.
We'll see!
Oh man, are you competing in The Burning Heart King of Mt. Silver Invitational? D:
I wish I could go. . .
Everyone fucking cheats. If you see your dad punch him in the dick for me. Thanks.
. . .
Oh, a noble camel has sidled up towards me.
Numel
Numel is extremely dull witted—it doesn't notice being hit. However, it can't stand hunger for even a second. This Pokémon's body is a seething cauldron of boiling magma. Numel stores magma of almost 2,200 degrees F within its body. If it gets wet, the magma cools and hardens. In that event, the Pokémon's body grows heavy and its movements become sluggish. It is a hardy Pokémon that can transport a 220-pound load. It has served humans at work since long ago.
Choro Notes: Neat typing! But. . . that's about it.
Zorak Notes: its legs freak me the fuck out
HulkaMatt Notes: Numel is a cool dapper lil fella. Deserve much more. I like em. They're super keen.
. . . WHY ARE THERE CAMELS HERE?
Camerupt
A hardy Pokémon that lives in calderas, Camerupt has a volcano inside its body. Magma of 18,000 degrees F courses through its body. The humps on Camerupt's back are formed by a transformation of its bones. They sometimes blast out molten magma. This Pokémon apparently erupts often when it is enraged. Every 10 years, the volcanoes on its back erupt violently. Research is under way on the cause of eruption.
Choro Notes: I wish I knew what to say about Camerupt. They're cool looking and can learn Explosion.
Zorak Notes: CAMELS SHOULD NOT BE SO SQUAT ON THE GROUND NINTENDO WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PULL HERE CHRIST
HulkaMatt Notes: Camerupt is a fire pokémon I really have never even tried to raise and now that I look at it I deeply regret it. It looks like a fine upstanding citizen of this Universe.
Yes I know, Dromedary have one hump.
Choro Notes: Weezing live here! Here's the problem! They're actually fairly tough and will explode for no goddamn reason at all! They're complete assholes!
So uh, here's an idea, just throwing it out there. Uh. . . Rope bridges.
Oh, it's what's your name. Phil.
It's been a few days, guy. I've even got some stuff from the frontier.
Do I have to do anything different from the usual wandering around aimlessly? I mean if not sure, why not.
Magma stone? So is it just igneous stone or what. Because uhhh
I've heard less dumb things that turned out to be true.
. . . . . . . you are goddamned shitting me.
Out of my way, I've got some stupid to clear up.
Choro Notes: This is the route's PokéRadar monster!
Turtles are so cool.
Torkoal
Torkoal digs through mountains in search of coal. If it finds some, it fills hollow spaces on its shell with the coal and burns it. Torkoal generates energy by burning coal. It grows weaker as the fire dies down. When it is preparing for battle, this Pokémon burns more coal. If it is attacked, this Pokémon spouts thick black smoke to beat a retreat. When loosing smoke from its nostrils, it lets off a sound that is similar to a locomotive's horn.
Choro Notes: I love Torkoal, they're so cool looking. There are worse fire-types you could have.
Zorak Notes: It's literally a steam engine which is fucking hilarious to me. TOOT TOOT ALL ABOARD THE TURTLE TRAIN ASSHOLES.
HulkaMatt Notes: MOTHER FUCKING DAPPER TURTLE. Kind of deserves an evolution but if it never has one I'll be perfectly fine with it.
Choro Notes: The Life Orb is an item that boosts the power of all attacks the holder uses at the cost of a little bit of HP whenever the attack is successful. Handy!
They literally have no barricades or ANYTHING around these active fumaroles. This STUPID country.
"I've always wanted to delve deep within an active volcano! Magma is so cool!"
Oh I see, these are the even dumber than usual grunts.
Idiots should have stuck with Saturn. Saturn is an alright guy it turned out. I heard he even started an insurance plan for those morons.
Well time for a long drawn out lightsaber battle I guess.
Oh are you goddamned kidding me.
Distortion world, a horrible world of noneuclidean terror parallel our own populated by a hellwyrm of obnoxious and violent attitude.
You could have jumped into that hole after Cyrus like me and Cynthia did.
Do not really care. At all.
Please don't, you know how this is going to go.
Music: A Pokémon Battle Theme.
We really don't need to be doing this.
Oh your little mirror evolved I see!
There. Problem solved.
Yawn.
Problem solved.
NO. I REALLY DON'T. IF ANYTHING YOU HAVE IT AGAINST YOURSELF. It's your friend I have the vendetta against.
Read a book! Books are full of information!
Oh snap.
I'm going to break you.
He's probably off trying to cook a tree that doesn't actually exist.
This is going to go even faster than Mars.
Phfbbt
Can I go now? I'm trying to beat up the old man behind you.
Girl, you best be mistaken if you think that's what I'm going for.
Uh oh did I effortlessly strike a nerve by defending myself?
Cave at the Sendoff Spring. There's a portal. Knock yourself out.
Oh my!
Well Charon! Get ready for a beatin'!
Was it fun WITH him around?
Just so we're clear you guys aren't even really Team Galactic to begin with. Team Galactic's all back at Veilstone trying to harness energy from a bunch of rhyhorn right now.
HAHAHAHAHA.
Go on a long journey off a short pier, toots.
Please don't throw those grunts at me.
Dude had a cult, a business empire and hundreds of lackeys before 30. C'mon man.
Crazy ass dream that makes no sense.
He didn't though, he left it to Saturn and now they're doing, admittedly, retarded shit but hey. They're not trying to undo creation!
Dude, just go make your own team.
Team. . . wants money?
Wait, wait. So you don't want to fight. And your goal is. . . . money?
. . . . my worldview is shattered.
Music: Diamond/Pearl - Stark Mountain
Rocks and boulders. Great.
Oh christ it smells like burning sulfur in here.
Living piles of magma and eggfarts. What a great adventure I'm having.
Slugma
A common sight in volcanic areas, Slugma slowly slithers around in a constant search for warm places. Slugma does not have any blood in its body. Instead, intensely hot magma circulates throughout this Pokémon's body, carrying essential nutrients and oxygen to its organs. If this Pokémon is chilled, the magma cools and hardens. Its body turns brittle and chunks fall off, reducing its size. It never sleeps. It has to keep moving because if it stopped, its magma body would cool and harden.
Choro Notes: Generic fire-type, but its abilities are great use to breeders!
Zorak Notes: Slugma is a Slug made of magma and I am totally fine with this. He has flame body which helps hatch eggs faster, which is nice!
HulkaMatt Notes: SLUGMA IS A SLUG MADE OUT OF LAVA JESUS CHRIST. HOW. HORRIFYING.
Ok long story short. Old guy from Team Galactic thinks he's still part of Team Galactic and is going after the Magma Stone because money.
It's a splinter group, technically.
Anyone who heals my buddies for free is a buddy of mine.
Choro Notes: Buck
Buck is the younger brother of Flint. He prefers Pokémon with high defenses. In Diamond/Pearl he's the one actually after the Magma Stone as this little subplot doesn't occur.
His Claydol has the annoying tendency to KO anything you want to capture! Notably Koffing and Weezing!
Magcargo
Magcargo's body temperature is approximately 18,000 degrees F. Water is vaporized on contact. If this Pokémon is caught in the rain, the raindrops instantly turn into steam, cloaking the area in a thick fog. Magcargo's shell is actually its skin that hardened as a result of cooling. Its shell is very brittle and fragile—just touching it causes it to crumble apart. Flames spout from gaps in its hardened shell. This Pokémon returns to its original size by dipping itself in magma. Tens of thousands of years spent living in volcanic craters have turned Magcargo's bodies into magma.
Choro Notes: 4x weak to Water, 4x weak to ground. Oof.
Zorak Notes: I really like Magcargo's design and typing.... except for it being very, very, very fragile to Earthquake
HulkaMatt Notes: I've road up and down throughout Solaceon many times with five eggs and a Magcargo in my party. A REALLY BIG HELP.
Your Pokémon don't have noses, do they?
I, too, could not stand to see a lava chamber made a mess of.
Buck, you're a dick.
One more plate left!
but losing isn't fair to my Pokémon.
Yeah, I'll give you that one.
Have you considered high fives?
This is it. No fooling around!
You could honestly probably fool around.
I know. I was there for both. COINCIDENCE?
Saturn continues to prove he's a cool guy.
You have TWO guys following you. Do you two even have any monsters?
YOU JOINED A WEEK BEFORE THE MASTER PLAN STARTED.
Man, you keep saying that, that's so weird.
Yes, thank you Buck.
"Preteens."
Oh goddammit, I am tired of seeing legendary horrors awaken.
The hell? Croagunk?
Man, that frog made you look a fool.
Music: Looker's Theme
Looker?! How long have you even been there?!
Oh man! You messed up, Charon!
Just. Just let them go.
Oh COME ON, Charon.
REALLY? THAT'S the defense you're gonna go with?
No, let him go. Me and Buck get medals if we beat him up, right?
This is the most competent I have EVER seen the police.
Go on.
Agreed.
Don't- Don't breathe in like that you idiot. There's ash and sulfur everywhere.
Probably should have left that.
You didn't feel the need to tell us you did this until AFTER we walked all the way out? I mean for pete's sake you left all those trainers in there and said NOTHING.
Well that's that then.
I've seen more energetic.
That's. . . actually intelligent!
Wow so, this is it, huh?
Yes, that is a thing we shall do.
Looker, I know I've called you an idiot on multiple occasions and that feeling hasn't changed at all.
. . . I'm not sure where I was going with this.
It probably sounds better in its original language.
Yeah yeah. Take care of yourself. I hope next time you're on an assignment in a place that doesn't speak the language we're speaking right now.
Hey Jorge, I'm going inside this place here!
. . . you know come to think of it. I really might have.
Heh, I guess that's true.
. . . going inside now bye!
Crasher Wake? :D
those selfsame Gym Leaders.
Oh whoa, I got gym leader props.
. . . yes that's a good name.
Oh man do I get to hear stories from the Gym Leaders?
Oh. :/
Slugma!
What is the actual science behind this?
Hey if you see the Tower Tycoon, punch him in the dick for me. Kinda pass that around, I'd like that to become a tradition.
Well this is awesome. Hey I'll be back later! I gotta see a stone about a thing.
WOO!
Choro Notes: There's a rock climb chain bisecting Stark Mountain, you can use it to quickly traverse it and not deal with the maze.
Ok, yes. You are a crazy looking thing.
Crazy sounding thing.
You know what I really don't even want to deal with this.
Unsporting~~~~
Heatran
Heatran dwells in volcanic caves. It digs in with its cross-shaped feet to crawl on ceilings and walls. Boiling blood, like magma, circulates through its body. Its body is made of rugged steel. However, it is partially melted in spots because of its own heat.
Choro Notes: A unique thing about Heatran, aside from its typing, is that it has genders. It can't breed, but it has genders. These things just live in volcanoes and are never seen because, well. Volcano.
Zorak Notes: Heatran is probably my favorite legendary in the game, to be honest, other than maybe Arceus. He's just a mythological salamander doing his thing in his volcano, eatin' fire and rocks and people. He's a Cool Dude.
HulkaMatt Notes: A cool legendary who I didn't catch in Pearl because that mountain was my grinding area and I didn't want the double trainer battles to stop.
Today was a good day.
