<-- Heroic Tier

Welcome to the second thread of Let's Play Dungeons & Dragons! This campaign started in the beginning of 2010 and has been running, with some fits and starts, ever since. Nearly all of us started completely ignorant of the game and how it's played but now we're girding our loins for upcoming edition wars like any other basement-dweller. This thread is all about our game and adventures while this forum is all about tabletop gaming in general, please do not confuse them.

Dungeons & Dragons was invented by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in the 1970s, and is credited with launching tabletop roleplaying. The game and its descendants then influenced the development of digital RPGs and MMOs causing an ongoing exchange of game design innovations and terminology. The Fourth Edition of Dungeons and Dragons was released in summer of 2008. We're playing it because it is the current edition, and also a great example of game design. Some may disagree and I invite them to have a rational dialogue in this other thread rather than mine.

The first thread covered levels 1-10, the Heroic Tier portion of the game. Fourth edition goes to level 30 and each third of the game allows for more customization of your characters' mechanics and story. Paragon paths are generally class-specific and make your character better at something they do. For instance, my first character was a pacifist cleric who gained new ways to participate in combat without harming his enemies.

OUR PARTY

Gibnaf Boneson - Gnome Bard
General Ironicus

Uncomfortable in his life as Boner nobility, Gibnaf seeks a life of adventure and street performance. Since achieving his dream of traveling with those that crumbled the Focus Tower he has become confident in his abilities as a trickster hero, but his naivete still limits his potential.

Algernon de la Flor - Dragonborn Ranger
Drakkel

A dragonborn blade collector who spent his time away from the group training with Silver in the Dragon Islands. Balances his impressive skill with keeping the others in line.

Joey Hoofvsz - Minotaur Warlord
Wolfshirt

The party's de facto leader because he cannot be reasoned with, Joey is driven to amass gold and prove how awesome he is. Some say without Joey Hoofvsz to introduce random chance the entire universe would stagnate in entropy.

Kodrinschreiner - Warforged Paladin
PlasmaMan

In the last year, Kodrinschreiner has lost his jurisdiction and sense of purpose by landing so far from Bonerton. Eventually deciding that in the absence of a higher power's law, he would have to make his own, Kod has become far more willful as a self-styled son of mercy. He only occasionally consults the good book (The Big ol' Book of Bonerton Ordinance ) for advice.

In his year of travels with Gibnaf, Kod discovered a set of relics: a series of sanctified matroyshka dolls. He was commanded from somewhere to use them to seal evil forces and objects inside each. In doing so, the smallest doll has transformed into a mysterious amulet, whose powers are yet to be revealed.

Minerelle Orr -  Shardmind  Psion
PoorWeather

A  chunk of giant space door  turned-adventurer, Minerelles lust for adventure (and maybe a bit of contrived coincedence) has led her to return to the group. Unfortunately, taking revenge on her former party during the interim months has done little to quell her rampant paranoia, to the peril of those around her. Her identity as a  Shardmind  has still not been revealed to the band - But, to be honest, no one seems to care much about it any more, really.

Miriam Webster - Human Avenger
Medibot

Alphabetizer and One True Librarian of Ioun, she traveled with the party in order to preserve knowledge. However, Ioun's other followers may not have seen her actions as entirely worthy enough and there is a burden she must bear.

Dungeon Master
Syrg Sapphire

After rolling the dice with his life a few more times, he's back to do the same with our fictional people instead.
